FireFox 3 extension security

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

As FireFox 3 (FF3) is now available as first public beta version at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html, many users will realize that their add-ons don’t work any longer.
One possible cause is that the extension is provided through “insecure” update sites, i.e. not using HTTPS as transport protocol. To enable FireFox 3 loading updates from such sites, follow these steps:

  1. open about:config
  2. create new boolean value extensions.checkUpdateSecurity=false
  3. restart

Technorati FireFox extension

Wednesday, November 16th, 2005

After reading Sifry’s alert and not being able to find the extension I expected, I decided to create my own.
Technobar will provide the ultimate ‘reverse’ browsing experience by showing live Technorati content on the web pages you’re browsing.
Alpha code is currently in development. Some help with Mozilla’s sidebar implementation needed…
If you’re using Flock, then Technorati Topbar is the perfect extension.

My favourite plugin for developing PHP scripts when it comes down to tracking HTTP message exchange between browser and web server. LiveHTTPHeaders displays a sidebar that allows HTTP request and server response inspection.
