FireFox 3 extension security
As FireFox 3 (FF3) is now available as first public beta version at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html, many users will realize that their add-ons don’t work any longer.
One possible cause is that the extension is provided through “insecure” update sites, i.e. not using HTTPS as transport protocol. To enable FireFox 3 loading updates from such sites, follow these steps:
- open about:config
- create new boolean value extensions.checkUpdateSecurity=false
- restart

The second setting to use (if you want to get rid of the compatibility warning preventing you to run the extension) is extensions.checkCompatibility. Set to false to allow running any extension under any version.
Use at your own risk…

I have about 20 extensions and only two could work.
Is it possible that what you suggest can work for all of these?
Have to try it out i guess.

It does not mean that your extensions will necessarily work- but it does give you the option to try them on the new FireFox version before the officual plugin packages become available.
